Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern user access to and use of Localocracy’s services and websites (“Services”) as well as access to any information, graphics, or other content available through Localocracy. By using or accessing our Services, you agree to these Terms.

Privacy and Use

All information you provide to Localocracy is bound by our Privacy Policy, which determines how we collect and use your information. Through agreement with our Terms, you consent to our collection and use (as set forth in the Privacy Policy) of this information. We reserve the right to share content generated by users with our media partners, including but not limited to print, broadcast, radio, and other forms of media.

User-Generated Content

All user-generated content is the sole responsibility of the person responsible for creating said content. We do not take responsibility for such content. We do not represent or guarantee the completeness or accuracy of user-generated content posted via our Services, or endorse any opinions expressed through said Services. By accessing our Services, you acknowledge that you may be exposed to Content that is offensive, inaccurate or otherwise inappropriate. Under no circumstances will Localocracy be held liable for such Content. By posting Content through any of our Services, you grant us a royalty-free license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy and distribute such Content. Through registration with Localocracy, you also grant us permission to retain Content for the purposes of distributing anonymous aggregated data to whomever we see fit. We will never sell your email address or otherwise distribute your contact information without prior consent. If you post Content in publicly accessible areas, everyone—including those not registered with Localocracy—will have access to your information, and consequently we will not be able to control how such Content is used by outside parties. We reserve the right to share content generated by users with our media partners, including but not limited to print, broadcast, radio, and other forms of media.

Rights of Users

All Localocracy Users are bound by the following terms:

You will not post commercial advertising, promotional offers or communication of any form (such as spam) through our Services
You will not upload malicious code or engage in anything that could impair or disable Localocracy (such as a Denial of Service attack)
You will not intimidate or harass other members of the Localocracy community
You will not post Content which is hateful, threatening, sexually inappropriate, belligerent or discriminatory
You will not post content which is repetitive or incoherent
You will not attempt to search or access content through any means (such as automated spiders) aside from Localocracy’s current interface
You will not provide Localocracy with falsified personal information
You will not use Localocracy for anything which is unlawful, including pyramid schemes and phishing
Under no circumstances are you allowed to share your account (or password) with other people

Violation of any of the above terms may result in removal of user-generated content, account termination or legal action.

“AS-IS” policy

Use of Localocracy’s Services and Content is AT YOUR OWN RISK. By agreeing to our Terms, you acknowledge that our Services are provided to you on an “AS-IS” basis. Localocracy does not claim responsibility or liability for the completeness, accuracy, security or availability of Services and Content. Localocracy is not responsible or liable for any harm caused to your computer system, loss of data, or other harm with results from accessing Localocracy Services and Content. Localocracy is also not responsible or liable for any failure to store, transmit or delete Content or other communications through our Services. We make no warranty or guarantee that Services will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, nor do we guarantee that advice and information obtained through our Services is correct.

Localocracy Rights

All components of Localocracy excluding user-generated Content are the exclusive property of Localocracy LLC. Services are copyrighted under United States law. Users DO NOT have the right to use Localocracy’s name or distinctive brand elements without express permission from a Localocracy employee. Any user feedback or suggestion in regards to Localocracy’s Services are welcome, and we will consider it as we see fit without obligation to you.
