Registration

When you register on Localocracy, you provide personal information such as your name, location, password and email address. While your name must remain publicly available, you can opt to hide personal information on your profile page by adjusting your privacy settings. If you are a registered user, we provide you with the means to edit personal information associated with your account.

Comments, Voting and Related Content

Localocracy is primarily a platform for communication between citizens on local issues. By posting comments or voting, you are asking us to make your content public. Information you provide in comments, votes, questions and related services are publicly available by default. You can opt to hide comments and votes on your profile page, newsfeed or on the issue page itself. All user-generated content is immediately disseminated and publicly available upon posting.

Information Sharing

We may share your personal information only with prior consent. We may share or disclose all non-private or aggregated information, such as your public comments and votes. We reserve the right to retain data in regards on your voting and ranking decisions, however, this information will remain completely anonymous.

Location

Since Localocracy is designed connect geographically established communities, your approximate location is publicly available to anyone in your registered community. Exact information, including IP and personal address, are only publicly available with your prior consent.

Cookies

This website uses “cookie” technology to collect additional website data and improve the functionality of our Services. A cookie is a small data file placed on your computer’s hard disk. You can choose to block cookies in your browser by editing your preferences to stop accepting cookies from websites, or prompt before accepting cookies from websites.

Policy towards Children

The majority of our Services are intended for those of voting age (18 years old). However, registration and access to specific services (such the personal profile, Minifeed and Questions and Answers) are available to those over 13 years of age. We do not knowingly permit children under 13 to create a profile or provide us with personal information. If we become aware that a child under 13 has done so, we will take all necessary steps to remove such information and delete the child’s account.

The above Privacy Policy may be subject to further changes. If changes that we deem significant are implemented, we will notify all registered users through the Minifeed. By continuing to use our Services after such changed become effective, you agree to our most recent Terms and Privacy Policy.
